Oboe Lessons
I have taught privately for over 10 years and between 2014-2018 I was the oboe teacher at Hill House International Junior School in Knightsbridge. I now teach at the Queen's School and Abbey Gate College in Chester, Stockport Grammar School, and privately in Manchester, Stockport and Macclesfield. My students all achieve high Merit or Distinction for their ABRSM grade exams.
Having a "portfolio career" where I work in lots of different capacities within music and with different people has made me a very versatile and adaptable person. This applies to my teaching method as well - I always tailor my teaching to individual student by adjusting how I explain things and choosing suitable and interesting repertoire. I became a professional musician because music is what I love the most (I moved to the other side of the world aged 13 to study music!) and I always convey that to my students which I believe keeps them motivated too. Although there are so many advantages to entering grade exams, I do not see it as a necessity in learning music. The one thing I encourage strongly to all my students is to join an orchestra or an ensemble, as that always creates a great incentive to keep practising, more so than the exams.
